About Us

Nevada Physical Therapy

Ownership independence allows our clinical professionals to focus their interests on quality patient care. Our standards are high and we strive for excellence in all that we do; providing the best patient care and unmatched customer service. Our physical therapists are leaders in our profession who are knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated to a comprehensive approach to patient evaluation and treatment.

Our goal is to return our patients back to a productive life as quickly and safely as possible. Our treatment philosophy emphasizes an “active hands-on approach” while enlisting active participation in the recovery process and empowering patients with knowledge by teaching them self-management and injury prevention. We go all-out to serve not only the patient but also the referring physicians, insurers and employers by providing cost effective and outcome-oriented care while being committed to our core values.

From our experience with high-level athletes we have learned that athletes demand immediate attention, accurate diagnosis and the establishment of a plan of action that will safely return them to their sport and prevent further injury. A “team concept” model with the patient, physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer and family working together affords the best overall result for all involved.

This “win-win” model is the key to Nevada Physical Therapy’s success and can be applied for all orthopedic involvements and all patients no matter the age or activity level. The retired policeman seeing a local physical therapist in Nevada for his new total knee replacement demands the same quality of life as professional athletes and every other patient that we treat. Injured workers with spine conditions need immediate intervention to prevent loss of productivity and avoid unnecessary long-standing disability.

Passive forms of physical therapy may provide short term relief but ultimately treatment programs must move into active forms of therapy. Dependence on healthcare providers must be minimized and care transitioned into patient education and self-treatment which allows patients to be more personally responsible for their healthcare- leading to independence. Coupled with a skilled and compassionate practitioner helping to guide patients through this challenging process in a non-stressful and motivating environment is what Nevada Physical Therapy is all about.

NPT and ACL Rehab

Not all physical therapy is the same. When it comes to ACL injuries, there is a mismatch between patient expectations and reality- More than 90% of patients who undergo ACL reconstruction believe surgery will get them back to their prior level of activity or sport but the reality is only about 55-65% actually do and when we look at competitive sports, that number drops to 44%! (Ardern et al.,2014) The success of a patient’s rehabilitation is largely dependent on three key variables- the surgeon, the patient and the physical therapist. Choosing a surgeon who specializes in these surgeries and uses up to date, evidence-based techniques is crucial. The patients who succeed most often are those that can follow the plan, are patient, and consistent with their programs. Finally, the physical therapy needs to be data-driven, progressive, and challenging but also, the therapist needs to deeply understand how to use the current best research and have the skill to adjust and apply it to the unique individual working with them.

Our physical therapists are Northern Nevada’s premiere experts when it comes to rehabilitating an ACL surgery; having worked with the University’s athletes for almost 30 years as well as Reno’s most elite athletes, we are uniquely qualified to help you through this process. We literally wrote the book on ACL rehabilitation and our protocol is used nationally at some of the prestigious sports medicine facilities in the country.

Specifically, our facility is equipped with technology that no one else has access to in Northern Nevada to help guide the clinical decision-making process. This includes things like a knee arthrometer that allows us to track increases in post-surgical laxity, pneumatic-resisted strength testing to allow us to measure force output, force plates to give detailed breakdowns on jumping performance, and much more. We firmly believe if you are not assessing then you are guessing. Informed decision making, objective progression criteria and detailed return to sport testing are just a few of the things that set us apart when it comes to ACL rehab for athletes and active individuals in the Reno-Sparks area.

When it comes to choosing a rehab provider for ACL reconstruction, there is no better choice than Nevada Physical Therapist. Don’t take out word for it, read more about what other athletes had to say about their experience with Nevada Physical Therapy here.

The best PT clinic out there! After my third ACL replacement I came to Nevada PT to work on my recovery. Dakota was a spectacular therapist and got me into the best shape of my life. The care they offer is far superior to the other physical therapy clinics I used in the past and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I had ACL and meniscus replacement surgery and was referred to Nevada Physical Therapy by my doctor. The owner, John, was incredibly knowledgeable, and the front staff are helpful and warm. But the real star of the show is Nick D'Agostino. His approach utilizes both physical and mental strength exercises[...]

While working as a local first responder I tore my ACL several months ago. Various co-workers/friends recommended to see Jon as he has helped rehab them and yielded great results. Shortly after, I had my surgery to repair the knee and began seeing Jon. Immediately, Jon discussed his process and explained the different stages of my rehab[...]

I saw NVPT for several months after my knee surgery. I really liked the staff (Ellie, Dakota, Britney, and Tristan). What really impressed me was how their training programs were based on the latest evidence-based research. Dakota developed a plan that allowed me to stay active while recovering so I never felt too sidelined by the injury[...]

Nevada Physical Therapy is by far the best physical therapy office in town. As a soccer player, injuries are a common occurrence, but Brian helped me through a particularly nasty ACL tear and it has easily been one of the best recoveries I've had [...]
