ACL Single Session Testing

Nevada Physical Therapy sets the standard in Reno and Northern Nevada when it comes to Return to Sport testing, and we offer this service to not only our current patients but to the greater community at large. If you have been recently discharged from your physical therapist after ACL rehab but would like more in depth testing or if you are unsatisfied with the current function of your knee, we offer the ability to come into our Midtown clinic and complete our entire Return to Sport testing battery. Your session will last approximately one hour and be 1-on-1 with a licensed physical therapist and will include all of the testing our athletes get as part of our formal rehab. You can read more about the testing here but the infographic below should give insight on what we will be measuring.

Return to Sport Timing

Less than half of the athletes who have had ACL reconstruction return to their same level of competitive play (Burgi et al, 2019) and only 20% who do return to play actually meet testing requirements. Many protocols use only time as their criteria for deciding when an athlete can return to playing so there is no surprise when the outcomes are so poor. We, as an industry, need to do better when it comes to giving an athlete the tools they need to return safely back to the field or court and Nevada Physical Therapy has one of the most thorough, evidence-based protocols in Sports Medicine.

“Given the complexity of some of the tests, as well as the necessary equipment... not all outpatient physical therapy facilities are poised to conduct RTS testing. Athletes may need to be sent to specific RTS testing centers that have the equipment and expertise in order to make the determination.” - Unverzagt et al., 2021

For stand alone testing, i.e. those who are not currently patients of Nevada PT, we offer this service for $200.00 and this includes the following:

Cost: $200

The best PT clinic out there! After my third ACL replacement I came to Nevada PT to work on my recovery. Dakota was a spectacular therapist and got me into the best shape of my life. The care they offer is far superior to the other physical therapy clinics I used in the past and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

I had ACL and meniscus replacement surgery and was referred to Nevada Physical Therapy by my doctor. The owner, John, was incredibly knowledgeable, and the front staff are helpful and warm. But the real star of the show is Nick D'Agostino. His approach utilizes both physical and mental strength exercises[...]

Shortly after, I had my surgery to repair the knee and began seeing Jon. Immediately, Jon discussed his process and explained the different stages of my rehab[...]

I saw NVPT for several months after my knee surgery. I really liked the staff (Ellie, Dakota, Britney, and Tristan). What really impressed me was how their training programs were based on the latest evidence-based research. Dakota developed a plan that allowed me to stay active while recovering so I never felt too sidelined by the injury[...]

Nevada Physical Therapy is by far the best physical therapy office in town. As a soccer player, injuries are a common occurrence, but Brian helped me through a particularly nasty ACL tear and it has easily been one of the best recoveries I've had [...]
