What to Expect

Getting started early is the best way to make sure you finish strong. We want to see you within 72 hours of your surgery and this first session is primarily to establish the first phase expectations and precautions. In our experience, those that start early, follow the program, and are consistent with their exercise outperform their counterparts that delay the first visit, develop bad habits, and are unable to create consistency. This first session will go over how to protect the newly reconstructed ACL, progression criteria to get off crutches, and how to maximize the early phase to optimize your late phase rehab. Your therapist will assess your knee, answer any questions you have and create your program for you to complete outside of the clinic.

Nevada Physical Therapy is committed to providing the best possible care for athletes in the Reno-Sparks community who have recently undergone ACL reconstruction, and this is facilitated in several ways. First, more time with your physical therapist. We spend 50-100% more time than the average therapist with direct, 1:1 care (no one puts Baby in the corner to do her exercises by herself). Second, we are the leaders in evidence-based rehab for ACL injuries in Northern Nevada. You will get the most advanced, up-to-date protocol in the industry facilitated by expertly trained licensed physical therapists. No gimmicks, gadgets or silliness- just good old-fashioned hard work and science.

Additionally, we understand athletes because we are athletes ourselves. From former Wolf Pack tight end Brian Fearnley and Laura Voss (former captain of UNR’s Women’s Soccer Team) to elite strength athletes like Jonathan Hodges and Nick D’agostino, our licensed physical therapy staff is composed of athletes, and we understand what it takes to get back to competing. Our facility reflects that culture as well with over 4000 lbs. of weights, 25 yards of turf, 5 squat racks, (and so much more). We are more than equipped to build faster, stronger athletes after ACL reconstruction.

Finally, our return to sport testing is one of the best in the industry. Your progression through the rehab process will be guided by data, not anecdote and testing happens throughout the rehabilitation journey. Repeated testing allows us to identify key areas to address to ensure we have helped you rebuild better than before. You can read about our return to sport testing here.

“I had ACL and meniscus replacement surgery and was referred to Nevada Physical Therapy by my doctor. The owner, John, was incredibly knowledgeable, and the front staff are helpful and warm. But the real star of the show is Nick D'Agostino. His approach utilizes both physical and mental strength exercises. He was constantly coaching me on how to get stronger physically, while helping me deal with the pain and physical limitations mentally. He is warm and caring, and I could tell that he really cared about my progress. I feel stronger than I did before the injury, and I am a much better athlete than I was before my fall. I single-handedly credit Nick. Their new facility is beautiful, by the way. Please use them if you are in pain, and need someone who truly cares about you and your health.” - Jamie F.

The best PT clinic out there! After my third ACL replacement I came to Nevada PT to work on my recovery. Dakota was a spectacular therapist and got me into the best shape of my life. The care they offer is far superior to the other physical therapy clinics I used in the past and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

While working as a local first responder I tore my ACL several months ago. Various co-workers/friends recommended to see Jon as he has helped rehab them and yielded great results. Shortly after, I had my surgery to repair the knee and began seeing Jon. Immediately, Jon discussed his process and explained the different stages of my rehab[...]

I saw NVPT for several months after my knee surgery. I really liked the staff (Ellie, Dakota, Britney, and Tristan). What really impressed me was how their training programs were based on the latest evidence-based research. Dakota developed a plan that allowed me to stay active while recovering so I never felt too sidelined by the injury[...]

Nevada Physical Therapy is by far the best physical therapy office in town. As a soccer player, injuries are a common occurrence, but Brian helped me through a particularly nasty ACL tear and it has easily been one of the best recoveries I've had [...]
